Raising therapy adherence with daily puzzle games
Medi & Cate is a collection of engaging puzzle games, designed for daily interaction.
Players become part of a communal goal: help the community break world records in the world of puzzle games.
A continuous stimulus of crossword puzzles, tangrams and sudokus gives players a reason to check in every day.
Just one more thing before the game starts: scan the barcode on the medication package to gain access. A simple reminder to take one's daily medication.

Medi & Cate
Medi & Cate are the good cop, bad cop characters, providing the player with a mix of sensible advice, positive feedback and the occasional sassy remark.
They provide medication reminders for the player during gameplay, all in their own quirky ways.
How does playing a daily puzzle game raise therapy adherence?
Medi & Cate understands that there's something easier to remember to do every day than one's medication: playing your favorite game.
By asking the player to scan the barcode on one's medication for access to the game, a player is automatically reminded of their medication.
Medi & Cate is more than a simple reminder: it provides an incentive for patients to adopt this reminder into their routine.

The steps to developing
a therapy adherence game
Bringing together the team
The workgroup consists of 6-8 participants of the most important stakeholders.
This means the project team, the end users and, potentially, externals such as ethicists and healthcare professionals.
Game Ready Workshop
Together with the team of stakeholders, we
- define our goals and design criteria
- come up with ideas
- draft the first prototype
in a day-long creative workshop.
Development & testing
A prototype becomes a MVP, shaped by choices made with the whole team.
Development is an iterative process: we build, test and apply our learnings to the next round.
Implementation
The finished product is implemented and ready for use.
We provide training to ensure long-term use and enjoyment of the product.
